Title: ‘Heat-Proof’ Eggs Help Turtles Cope With Hot Beaches

Date: Sep. 27, 2011

Summary (8-10 sentences)

In this article it talks about how some green turtles eggs are natural heat resistant. The green turtles are being threaten by the increasing heat of earth. This article is based on turtles nesting in Ascension Island, a UK overseas territory. It stated that the turtles that hatched on darker and warmer sand are more heat resistant than turtles that were born in cooler and lighter sands. The beaches that I’m talking about are only 6 kilometer apart and the tempters difference is only 3 degrees Celsius difference. The turtles after they were hatch would then go to the coast of South America then return to the island to nest. The female turtles nest in the same area that they them nested on so that generation to generation will become more adapt to the heat. This curricular to having the species live on in a warmer world.

What you found most interesting about the article and why (4-6 sentences)

The part I found most interesting about the article is that the beaches are only 6 kilometer apart. This is cool because this could make a huge difference in this populations existents. The more the generations that are born on the darker sand the longer  they will live.
